While his time of year tends to be a very happy time for most children- it is also a time when children can end up with large cases of the Gimmies so it is a good time to read stories that remind us what makes us truly happy.”
This month we read: “That’s When I’m Happy” by Beth Shoshan Goodnight Stories Collection
“Be happy! A little book for a happy you” by Monica Sheehan
These links are to a similar book by Monica Sheehan
Be Happy! English
Be Happy! Spanish
It is a time when we work hard to be especially good- so we read a book to help us remember how loveable we are:
“The Lovables in the Kingdom of Self-Esteem."
It also gets cold this time of year so we want to remember during the day as well as at night, We want to be
“Snug as a Bug” by Tamsyn Murray.
Break-
Five in the Bed; Teddy Bear
The most difficult thing about this time of year is we run around and rush around a lot.
So we choral read the Poem Hurry up and Wait
Then we read about a character who gets into lots of trouble running around
“The Gingerbread Man” by Jim Aylesworth
Children often enjoy reading different versions of the same story and older children should be encouraged to write their own.
Our final story was a student’s idea of what would happen if the Gingerbread man was at school.
Thanks to Ms. Schmidt everyone took home a stuffed friend to love
Finally everyone enjoyed cookies and milk provided by the Harbor Pointe staff and took home a coloring copy of
